Tank

Name: Tank
Sex: Male
Age: 1 year
Breed: White Boxer
Weight: 46 lbs.
Temperment: No concern
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

***To save TANK email emily@inourhandsrescue.org TONIGHT!!!***

On the euthanasia list for tomorrow AM is another gorgeous white dog named TANK, who, despite his name is small at only 46 lbs. He is 1 year old, super sweet and affectionate, does well with other dogs and had and EXCELLENT behavior evaluation. (His hair goes up a bit when he first meets dogs, but he settles down right away.) He is a favorite of shelter staff, and they have asked me to save him.

This is what a volunteer wrote about him:

Tank's parents were evicted from their home. They left him tied in their courtyard from 9:30AM till 8:45PM on one of our colder days of the week. You would never know that poor Tank suffered such an ordeal because he is so sweet and wiggly in his kennel. The medical staff tell us he is around a year old and only weighs 46 pounds.

The doctors did not see any signs of aggression during his exam. They did report some old scaring on his head, face, and fore and hind legs. He has already been seen by our behavior staff. They felt he started the testing a bit nervous but warmed up to the handlers once he knew he was safe. He is reported to do his business outside and therefore might be housebroken. If you want to give a new better life to Tank, please, come to the shelter as soon as possible. His time at the shelter is limited.

Tank has only hours left-- if you would like to apply to foster or adopt, please email me at emily@inourhandsrescue.org and I will send you the appropriate application. You will still need to be approved, so please apply early so I have time to look at the application.

THANK YOU!

Sandy

Name: Sandy
Sex: Female
Age: 2 years
Breed: Brindle Pittie
Weight: 35 lbs.
Temperment: No concern
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

To save SANDY'S LIFE, email emily@inourhandsrescue.org ASAP! There is no time to waste!

Sandy loves to run! Tail wagging, tongue hanging, she appears to be quite the happy dog despite her harsh surroundings and dangerous situation So dangerous that tomorrow will die unless a kind soul saves her.

As a volunteer found out who walked and photographed Sandy, she also loves to crawl into your lap to gives kisses and get hugs. She is a 2-year-old brown brindle and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Like most dogs who come to the shelter, she probably has had obedience training, which isn't her fault. She does tug on the lead, so your teaching her to walk nicely and obey your commands would be great for the two of you. She even seems like she will be good with cats! She completely ignores them, even when they hiss.

SANDY had a PERFECT behavior evaluation, and should be great in nearly any home. Like any pittie, she will need plenty of affection, discipline and exercise!!!

Won't you email tonight so that tomorrow you can adopt this sweet little girl? She wants to live and play with you for years to come.

Contact emily@inourhandsrescue.org NOW or she will be gone tomorrow by 6 AM!

Ashley - NO ADOPTION FEE!

Name: Ashley
Sex: Female
Age: 8 years
Breed: Staffie
Weight: 55 lbs.
Temperment: Dogs/Kids - No; Cats - Yes Please!
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

At 8 years old and about 55 lbs, Ashley found herself dumped in a kill shelter, left to die alone as puppies and small dogs found homes, but she, a senior pittie girl, was overlooked. She made her way onto the euthanasia list, and it looked like the end for Ashley-- a hard life, probably as a breeder, was to end on a cold, hard metal table, held down by jaded hands.

At the last minute, In Our Hands Rescue stepped in to take her, and sent her to a wonderful foster home. With the failing economy, the foster lost his job and moved to Philadelphia, leaving Ashley behind. Despite our pleas, no one stepped up to help poor Ashley. She was sent to a boarding kennel, where she passes her days in a cage, not a home.

Life has been hard on this old girl, you see, as a dog bred for her puppies, she is not particularly fond of other dogs - she was not socialized, and was probably approached by other dogs only to mate. Additionally, city life scares her, as she was not often walked or given access to people other than her caretaker. She is sweet and wonderful though, as long as she is away from the stressful hustle and bustle off city life, and appears to really enjoy the company of cats. She knows basic commands and is not too terribly zippy on the leash.

For these reasons, we would like to place Ashley in a foster or adoptive home outside of the city, with adults only, no dogs but cats are OK. Like our other dogs, Ashley will come spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, dewormed and heartworm tested--- but she will NOT come with an adoption fee. We simply want to find the right home for her.

If you would like to save Ashley, a sweet, gentle old girl from ending her days in a cage, please contact emily@inourhandsrescue.org. We are committed to making sure this is not all life has to offer her. Please, Please email and help her start her life anew.

Chelsea

Name: Chelsea
Sex: Female
Age: 3 years
Breed: rednose
Weight: 65 lbs.
Temperment: Dogs - No, Kids 12+, Cats - No
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Gorgeous Chelsea is getting booted from her current home because of a dispute with the resident dog. She can only stay until this SUN, 12/28!! so we urgently need to find her a new home/foster home by then.

Chelsea is a beautiful 3 yr old spayed female bluenose pit weighing in at a healthy 65 lbs. She was originally rescued from a kill shelter in NYC and was dropped off as a stray. She was what they call a "throwaway mom" - used for breeding and then tossed. Despite her strong muscular looks, she is an absolute sweetheart and very loving with all humans but she is a bit timid and fearful with other dogs and she can be reactive on the leash when she sees other dogs, other than that she walks easily on the leash, knows basic commands, is housebroken, crate trained and generally has a very low key couch potato demeanor but she needs firm direction and leadership from a STRONG HUMAN LEADER and we feel that as a result of her not getting along with the resident dog, she needs to go to an EXPERIENCED BULLY BREED OWNER.Ideally she should be an ONLY DOG and because of her strength/size, she should go to a home with older kids ages 12+ and NO CATS.

IF You are looking for a wonderful gorgeous pit, please consider adopting/fostering CHELSEA. If you are serious about committing to her, pls e-mail back to this post or to luckofthedog@gmail.com or call #917-543-6193 ASAP!! and leave your name, contact# and e-mail address *ONLY SERIOUS INQUIRIES PLEASE*

*Pls note this dog is located in the Metropolitan NYC Area - Transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met* There will be a reasonable rehoming fee requested to cover shots, spay surgery and microchip*

If you'd like to help out CHELSEA or dogs in need by making a donation to In Our Hands Rescue - you can do so by going to this link http://inourhandsrescue.chipin.com/help-iohr-save-a-last-chance-shelter-dog

Georgie

Name: Georgie
Sex: Male
Age: 8 months
Breed: Red/White Pittie
Weight: 65 lbs.
Temperment: No concern
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Georgie's time is extremely short-his perfect behavior evaluation make him adoptable in ANY home. Please don't let him become a statistic! Email emily@inourhandsrescue.org TODAY, before it is too late and those blue eyes shine no more...

A 65 lb LAPDOG... That's Georgie--- well, when he's not being a playful puppy, that is. He was given up by his owner because they have no time for him. They did say that he is good with obedience and loves men, women, and children, and displayed not an ounce of any type of aggression.

A VOLUNTEER WROTE:

"A handsome brute" was one comment a volunteer almost wrote, but Georgie is anything but a brute. This 8-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier pup is rather large, weighing 65 pounds and still growing, but he's very friendly with people and other dogs. In fact, Georgie earned our behaviorists' highest rating for his being sociable and not aggressive. They noted that he is very playful. A volunteer who walked and photographed Georgie confirmed his high rating. However, he is strong and did pull the fellow around a parking lot. So, you'd have to teach him to heel and obey your other commands. He is young and eager to please so your teaching him would be fun and fulfilling for you both. But, you can't wait; please email today. Georgie is too handsome and precious to lose.

This is it. YOU are Georgie's last chance. Email emily@inourhandsrescue.org TODAY or it will soon be too late to SAVE GEORGIE.

Rochelle

Name: Rochelle
Sex: Female
Age: 4 years
Temperment: No concern
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Meet Rochelle---

A shelter worker called me today on my cell to plead for help for uniquely gorgeous, uncommonly calm, 4 year-old Rochelle. In fact, she is not living in a cage, but in the staff member's office... THAT'S how well behaved she is... And the volunteers lover her too.

A VOLUNTEER WROTE:

Rochelle's favorite place is in front of you with her head on your chest, the better to get hugs and treats. She is a gentle 4-old-year gray and white American Pit Bull Terrier. Maybe her fur color is more blue brindle. Rochelle walks nicely on the lead, can sit on command and appeared to a volunteer who walked and photographed her that she is to be house trained. Won't you come see this sweet, mellow girl today? If you are looking for quiet times with a well-behaved dog, then Rochelle is the dog for you. It won't be long before she has her head on your chest.

We think she'd be excellent with adults, kids and other dogs-- she had PERFECT behavioral scores. Don't let this life slip away...

Her time is short. Please do not delay-- contact us immediately to foster or adopt. In days, she will be dust! Email emily@inourhandsrescue.org

Madison

Name: Madison
Sex: Male
Age: 2 years
Breed: rednose
Weight: 44 lbs.
Temperment: Dogs - Yes, Kids 7+, Cats - ?
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

PLS Help us save MADISON from euthanasia at the shelter. He is living on borrowed time. He was scheduled to be euthanized last week and the shelter agreed to give him some more time, which is where we stepped in to try and help him find a home before it's too late and the shelter puts him back on the euthanasia list.

MADISON is a 2-year old male brown and white American Staffordshire Terrier. He arrived at the shelter as a result of his owner being evicted. This poor dog's life has been turned upside down. He went from the comfort of his home to the shelter. Because he's in an unfamiliar environment and lost his family, he isn't happy one bit at the shelter. As a result, he is timid and needs a master that understands his situation and can help build his confidence. Once you spend a little time with him he starts to come out of his shell. When he was tested at the shelter he showed no aggression and no food guarding. He is ok with other dogs. Kids over 8 years old are OK. Can you change his world around again by giving him another chance to live his life in a wonderful and loving home?

If you can commit to adopt, foster or foster him with the option to adopt, please respond to this posting with your phone number or call us directly at 917-543-6193.

*Please note there will be a reasonable adoption donation fee requested of the shelter to cover all shots, neuter surgery and microchip

Sweet LIL' POSEY found herself at the local city shelter dropped off as a stray, dirty and pregnant. Due to lack of space, she was slated to be euthanized but was spared because she's soo sweet!! A rescue group saved her but the shelter had to abort her puppies and the group boarded her at a vet's office so she could recover... she is recovering quickly and can't stay there much longer and needs to be out ASAP!!! - won't you take her home for the holidays?

Posey is a very petite amstaff/pit mix at only 40 lbs and the vets think she is approx 3 yrs old. She scored very well on her behavior test and seems to be good with other dogs and could care less about cats. We don't know how she is with small kids.. but because of her petite size, feel she would be fine with older kids 7 yrs+...she's adorable, small and soo sweet and craves human attention...she certainly deserves another chance at a good home. Please come and meet her today!!

If you can SAVE POSEY by committing to Adopting, Fostering or Sponsoring, please respond back to this post with your callback info or call #917-543-6193...thank you!!

SHEBA is a sweet petite white Am Bulldog/Amstaff Mix gal who seems to have lived a rough life...She was dumped at the City Shelter in Brooklyn, NY shelter as a stray and is estimated at 4 yrs old and is approx 45 lbs. She's very sweet and mellow but has a rough coat and calloused elbows.. someone wasn't feeding her very well and she may have been left in a cement lot for a period of time.. still she passed her behavior exam and although she is a bit wary of other dogs at first... once she warms up she is an absolute sweetheart... she's great with all people and so loving... unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats and kids... but we imagine she would be fine with older kids 10 yrs+.

Hazel (aka Nasal)

Name: Hazel (B. Dazel)
Sex: Female
Age: 3 year
Breed: Lab/Beagle/Pit
Weight: 38 lbs.
Temperment: No Concern
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

SAVE this SWEET AS PIE DARLING LITTLE GIRL... she deserves a home for the holidays!

Sweet, Beautiful HAZEL a 3 year old Lab/Beagle/Pit mix. She was brought to the shelter by her owner because "his son was not caring for the dog". They only owned her for a couple of months. The owner assured the shelter Hazel is housetrained, likes the car, is well behaved and loves all women, men and children. They also noted "Hazel is a very friendly and mellow dog and LOVES to fetch!" She is a very sweet, petite dog and perfectly sized for an apt. She is low key and very friendly. She is very good on the leash and appears to be housetrained. She has beautiful eyes and a thick Shepherdish fur. She only weighs 38 lbs. She is good with cats and other dogs and doesn't seem to have any behavior issues like separation anxiety.. she will make a wonderful companion! Come and Meet her Today!

From her foster: Hazel is just the sweetest thing. She is wonderful with all three of my cats and loves to play with my female pittie for hours. She is crate trained, and a professional wiggle-butt - she gets so excited when her people come home she just can't contain herself, or should I say, contain her tail! When the leash comes out, Nasal is often found doing her "four-step," which consists of dancing, in place, on all fours in anticipation of going outside!

Hazel is not your standard pittie, in that she withholds her typical doggie kisses and prefers to stare in your eyes and then nuzzle. She does, however, have one of the most magical pittie smiles I think I've ever seen!

Hazel is great on a leash, LOVES to play fetch and is an all around snuggler! We just love having her!

If you can give HAZEL a Home for the Holidays - e-mail back to this post IMMEDIATELY or CALL #917-543-6193 ASAP!!... THANK YOU!!

*This dog is located in the Metropoitan NYC Area and transport can be arranged. There will be a reasonable adoption donation fee requested to cover shots, spay surgery and microchip

Malisha - Dumped b/c of a Cold!

Name: Malisha
Sex: Female
Age: 1.5 year
Breed: Staffie
Weight: 45 lbs.
Temperment: No Concern
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

To SAVE Malisha one FINAL time, please contact emily@inourhandsrescue.org ASAP-- she doesn't have much time!

A VOLUNTEER WROTE: Malisha is such a welcoming dog. She is all wigglely and oh so playful. This 1.5 year old gal came to the Shelter as a stray on 12/10/08 and was quickly adopted out. But her adopter returned her two days later, saying she had "no time" to care for a cold that Malisha had caught. But the adopter told the Shelter that Malisha loves all people and other dogs (we knew that already), knows "sit," "give Paw," and is not a barker. On our own we had discovered that Malisha thinks she is a baby and upon request, jumps in your arms and stays there to be snuggled. She loves the attention. Malisha is good with other dogs and adopts the "play" position with them. She takes treats nicely from your fingers. A funny and lovely dog. Energetic without being hyper, she'd be a great companion. There is some hound in her. She weighs 48 pounds.

Can you SAVE HER LIFE? What shelter animal DOESN'T leave with a cold?? None of them! Malisha deserves a chance to rest up in a loving home-- for the holidays. Email us TODAY! emily@inourhandsrescue.org

Sweet Ashley was literally pulled from the Euth Room at the local city shelter in the nick of time. She's a sweet calm gentle very loving mature F Brindle Pit Mix weighing approx 45 lbs. She was surrendered by a family that couldn't keep her because they were moving but they assured us that she is a wonderful family dog and loves cats and kids!!!

She is not great with other big dogs at first but once she gets to know them, she may be ok... she would probably do better with smaller dogs so she's going to need someone who has had previous Bully Breed Experience. Name: Sugar
Sex: Female
Age: 2 years
Breed: Rednose
Weight: 38 lbs.
Temperment: No Concern
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This adorable cutie pie was saved in the nick of time from euthansia at a high kill shelter and she is in a foster home but she has to be moved asap as the resident female dog does not like her so we are URGENTLY looking for a NEW HOME or FOSTER HOME ASAP - won't you give take her home for the holidays?!

Sugar is a SWEET, beautiful 2 yr old female rednose small red and white Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is an "itty bitty pitty" at only 38 lbs!! LOOK AT HOW ADORABLE SHE IS!!! Sugar's original owner surrendered her because of "landlord" issues. This is a shame because this diminutive girl, who is at her full size, couldn't be a friendlier or more easy going apartment mate. True to her name, Sugar is definitely a sweetheart. She is great with other dogs, good with cats, and older kids 10 yrs+.

She loves to run and play fetch so a home with a fenced in backyard would be ideal. However she does crave human attention and does have a bit of separation anxiety so it would be best if she were rehomed where there is someone home for most if not all of the time. Please come and meet this honey of a dog ASAP!! and make her Xmas wish of a new home come true!!

IF you can HELP SUGAR by ADOPTING or FOSTERING, please e-mail back to this post or to: luckofthedog@gmail.com or call #917-543-6193 ASAP! and leave a message with your full contact info – Thank you!

Mojo - ADOPTED!

Name: Mojo
Sex: Male
Age: 2 years
Breed: Chow/Collie
Weight: 50 lbs.
Temperment: No Concern
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This adorably cute furry boy is scheduled to be put down tomorrow due to lack of space at the shelter - can you give him a second chance by adopting, fostering or sponsoring?

Mojo came in as a stray. He was escorted by the police. He was so sweet that they had him hop in the back of their squad car for the ride over to the shelter. He was seen by our medical staff who estimated his age to be around 2 years old and they felt he was a chow/collie/spitz mix. He is a healthy weight of 50 pounds and has a beautful thick furry coat and the most adorable mischeivous smile. He has been tested by the behavior staff and was found to like his food so much that he tends to "guard" it a bit so they felt he should be placed in a home without children. It would also be a plus if his new guardian knew something about his breed. Mojo could be a mutt but the experts feel he has all the markings of the spitz dogs. These dogs were bred for the harsh cold climate of the Artic. So the winter is their favorite time of year. Mojo seems to be ok with other dogs and appears housebroken... but we don't know how he is with cats.

If you can SAVE MOJO by comitting to adopting/fostering or sponsoring him... please e-mail back to this post or call #917-543-6193 IMMEDIATELY... and leave your contact info and e-mail - PLS HURRY AS HE IS SLATED TO GO DOWN IN THE AM...so call 24/7 as no time is too late to save a wonderful dog! THANK YOU!!

THIS SWEET AS SUGAR Girl is MISSING HER FRONT TOES and is in DANGER of being PUT DOWN TOMORROW AM because no one is stepping up to adopt her! - Won't you be a GOOD SAMARITAN and give her the second chance she deserves despite her handicap?

Six month old Roxy was surrendered to the Shelter. Her owner explaining that she was a gift but was too a bit to much for them handle in these hard times. And that's all he said. Well, we've found that she's a joyous pup, but that no one has taken the time to do what is owed every puppy: exercise and training. She's still a puppy, and she would quickly respond positively to exercise and training, because she wants to please her human companions. She has no handling issues: go ahead, hug her all over. She has a slight limp because she's missing the toes on her front left paw, but that doesn't keep her from remaining an active and bouncy girl. In fact, she just needs a little bootie to protect her foot from the elements... but it doesn't bother her one bit. In fact she'd be a wonderful companion to another young dog so they can both play together and burn their energy!!! Right now she's a petite gal weighing only 42 pounds but she will grow some more.

If you can find it in your heart to give this SWEET PLAYFUL GIRL a good HOME.. pls respond back to this post right away or call #212-533-0822 and leave a message with you callback #s ... PLS HURRY as time HAS RUN OUT FOR ROXY!! - we must find someone by tonight to adopt/foster or sponsor to save her life! THANK YOU!

* Pls note this dog is located in the metropolitan NYC area - transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met* A minimal adoption donation fee will be requested to cover shots, spay surgery and microchip

Africana - Still needs Foster/Adopter/Sponsor

Age: 2 years
Breed: Weimereiner/Staffie
Weight: 55 lbs.
Temperment: Dogs - Yes! Cats/Kids - Unknown

This GORGEOUS Gal is scheduled to be PUT DOWN TOMORROW for no reason other than NO SPACE!!... Pls SAVE HER by comitting to ADOPTING/FOSTERING OR SPONSORING ASAP!!

A woman brought 2 year old AFRICANA, to the Shelter, explaining that she'd found this beautiful, statuesque dog as a stray. When we first saw her, she had such a striking unique look that several folks couldn't pinpoint what her breed was... she looked part weimeriner because of beautiful blue-grey coloring and her hound like ears... yet she was muscular and had strong bone structure like an Amstaff... and yet someone else thought she was a large Chinese Crested... hmm... either way she is a SHOW STOPPER and definitely a "LOOKER" and could be a "TOP MODEL" in the dog world! She has been easy to handle and scored well on her behavior test and seems to be fine with the other dogs and also appears to be housebroken. We don't know how she is with cats or kids but we do know that she deserves another chance at a good home so PLEASE SAVE HER!!

If you can commit to ADOPTING/FOSTERING OR SPONSORING AFRICANA... pls e-mail back to this post or to: luckofthedog@gmail.ccom or call #917-543-6193 IMMEDIATELY (24/7) and leave your callback#s as time is of the essence... THANK YOU!
