SAMPSON is a 2.5 yr old 74 lb mushmellow! He was surrendered by his owner due to hardship issues. What a GORGEOUS boy he is with that unique bluenose and blue and white coat. Most likely he is a combo of AmStaff and AmBulldog. He is a favorite of the Kennel workers who can't understand why he hasn't been adopted because he's such a sweetheart. SAMPSON passed his behavior test with flying colors and got the highest rating of "No Concern". He is good with other dogs. Because of his size, he's probably best to go with children older than 7 yrs old. He appears to be housebroken and knows basic commands.

All Bully Breeds will need daily exercise and discipline so he will need an owner who understands this and is willing to put the time in to give him what he needs. Riley's owner surrendered her just 3 days ago, explaining that she couldn't afford to keep a dog. She said that Riley was a gift and housetrained. We wonder what the "Life of Riley" was like. But she's here now, and safe. When you first take her out, she is very shy and walks with her tail tucked between her legs. Yet, she welcomes visitors at her kennel door and says she wants to go out. She is fine on the leash but at times, hides under her caretaker's legs or behind the bench where this volunteer was sitting.

I carried her - she weighs only 34 pounds!!! - massaged her, played tag with her and never did she exhibit any sign of aggression. She is quite thin, but she takes treats gently from your hands. She met other dogs and seemed to enjoy those encounters despite her fears. She's a GORGEOUS puppy with amazing copper eyes and she's just going to be a BEAUTY OF A DOG someday provided she LIVES to see that day!!

PAULIE, a 3 yr Amstaff/Pit, had the bad luck to be born with a dark brindle coat and to arrive to the shelter right before the Thanksgiving Holiday. He has no handling issues, and even with his BIG lovely head, is so calm, cool and collected. All the kennel workers were immediately struck by his \calm and sweet nature: great with people and with other dogs. Even though he weighs 55 pounds, he is easy to lead on a leash, and takes treats gently from your hand. He loves being caressed. And he's content to sit by your side. What a wuggie!! We think because of his calm temperament, he would be fine with children 7 yrs+. Unfortunately we don't know how he is with cats. - COME AND MEET HIM TODAY!!!

Sweet Ashley was literally pulled from the Euth Room at the local city shelter in the nick of time. She's a sweet calm gentle older F Brindle Pit Mix weighing approx 50 lbs. Maybe the fellow didn't need his neck washed, but regardless Rusty licked it thoroughly. It wasn't a question of personal hygiene but of extraordinary affection. This 1-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier loves people and expresses himself wetly. He also enjoys playing with people, even strangers. He's friendly enough with dogs but likes people more. Though he's easy to walk and doesn't tug hard on the lead, he's probably not obedience trained. But who cares, when he clearly has a heart of gold?

But, he's little more than a pup and eager to please. He's learn your commands quickly if you'd give him a chance. Rusty has all shots, neutering and is fully vetted. Currently, Rusty has demodectic mange mostly on his head. It is NON-CONTAGIOUS and is being treated with an inexpensive medication. Special bathing at home would speed up the healing. Brutis is a good boy at 9yrs of age, he was tested at the shelter right upon arrival and did not do great on his test bcz he was still too scared and nervous, but he's been a sweet Love for all who know him at the shelter, staff and volunteers alike.
Brutis is an easy, non pulling walker who was not out long this week because he didn't like the cold. he ignored the dogs he passed to get back to his cage- including a snippy snappy shepard mix who showed teeth. We gave him a pig twist and he took it so gently, he was almost reluctant to take it. But he did take it, gently, and we did see him go to work on it later.

Brutis is a senior doggie, he moves slowly but is very dignified and handsome instead of ratty. And he must be housetrained because he really, really went a lot as soon as he got outside. He had been holding it, for sure!

A very handsome Boy, although no one even bothered to take a decent picture of him so we could show you. He's also a big boy- long as well as tall. Staff workers say Brutis SMILES a lot when you play with him.

Young Goldie arrived at the kill shelter 11/19/08 as a stray. She's a bit on the thin side (she weighs 38 pounds, but her ribs are showing). Robin arrived at the shelter as a stray. This gal was so friendly and bouncy and enthusiastic on walks, but off leash she is gentle and not jumpy at all... she just wants to put her paws on your lap, stare at you and smile, and get her head and chest rubbed. 2 year old Marlon wandering the streets as a stray. They scooped him up and brought him to the Shelter. He was soooo thin ... very emaciated. But he hadn't been on the streets for long, because his nails were overgrown. That means that someone kept him confined, didn't walk him, and didn't feed him. The staff has been feeding him extra meals to fatten him up. All the while, he's proved a loving animal: great with people and fine with other dogs. He arrived weighing only 38 pounds and should weigh alot more. Although Marlon has been let down by humans, he's nevertheless sweet as sugar, well-behaved AND smart! He plays nicely, fetching a doll and returning it. He's happy to rest his head on your lap (to stay warm during this cold weather, and he probably knew about the treats in my pocket). Please consider this fine, affectionate dog!

Mika is a SWEET, BEAUTIFUL, MELLOW 4 year old female rednose pit who was brought into the Staten Island Shelter by the police. They arrested her owner and brought her to the shelter because she was so nice and friendly to them...She is scarred all over her back and face. The vets at the shelter believes she may have been stabbed or cut is some abusive manner. Even still she loves all humans and holds no grudges but she should go to someone who is EXPERIENCE w/ BULLY BREEDS. She is very mellow and laidback for a pit mix and just wants to curl up next to you on the couch.

She seems to be fine with other dogs and we think she would be fine with children over age 7 and unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats... but we can try to test her upon request. She's approx 45 lbs.

Country is a female, white & black siberian husky mix. Only 1 YR old! She is very sociable and enjoys being petted and give love back. She loves to play, too. She showed some resource guarding during testing, but she can be taught how to relax around her food and bones; Country is fine and curious around other dogs. She's only 47 pounds, and she was found as a strayand picked up by transit cops at a subway station.

Daisy was brought into the shelter as a stray. She's only 8 mos old and she is as gorgeous as they come... look at those innocent eyes, just begging you to take her home. Who can resists this beautiful gal (who has yet to grow into her paws). She's very excited once she emerges from the cage, but a transformation takes place outdoors. After "doing her business," she calms down immediately. She loves being petted and caressed all over. Although a bit shy (and startled by loud noises), she is always super sweet. She takes treats nicely from your fingers and is a perfect lady around other dogs. Daisy weighs 46 pounds and she'll grow some more. Unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats or small children.

My name is Hope. I am a 3 yr old sweet female amstaff/pit mix with a beautiful blue brindle coat & I was found just in the nick of time. Someone tried to kill me! I was tied to a pole left in the cold after they fed me rat poison. Why, what did I do? I am a good girl, I just want to be loved and love someone in return. I am very intimidated by all animals dogs, cat, kittens and even fish who swim to fast in there tanks. I won't bite you if you touch my food or toys. I am actually scared of toys that make noise. I have survived the last 4 days and wish to live longer then that I want to beat the rat poison and make it to live out my dreams of having a family that will love me and hug me and never feed me bad things. I know a human did bad things to me, but I still trust humans and would like a family to call my own. The shelter has given me medication and they are helping me to battle the poison that festers in my body.... But I need URGENTLY your help in this continuous battle of filtering out the poison in my blood. Please help me stay Alive! All I want is a happy life and a family to love.

This Sweet Smushy Rottie/Lab pup has limited time at the shelter and URGENTLY NEEDS A HOME/FOSTER/SPONSOR in order to survive! - PLS HELP US SAVE HIM!

Joseph cheats! That's right, he cheats. When you tell this large 1 1/2-year-old Rottweiler and Labrador Retriever to sit, he sort of squats then flops on his back and demands a tummy rub. That's not honest sitting. And worse, you end up rubbing his tummy rather than chastising him because he's so cute. Even when he's not mocking your obedience training, he's nuzzling you because he's so affectionate. And, he's friendly with both people and dogs.

Unfortunately we don't know how he is with cats or small children so we'd recommend that he go with older kids 10 yrs+ because of his size (65 lbs and still growing!) Still, you'd need to get serious with him if you want a well-trained companion. He's already easy to lead and wants to please, so he'd learn your commands quickly. Please call ASAP to save him and see if you can resist his cheating and his loving. Bet you can't.

Mandy, a gorgeous blue and white bluenose pit mix, was found as a stray. She hopped a ride to the Shelter in the backseat of a police car. We figure she's only around 2 years old. She loves people and seems fine around other dogs but she is energetic so she will need lots of exercise to burn her energy. She loves when you throw toys. She retrieves them, but then doesn't want to let go.

Mandy needs to learn how to let go so she will need to be taught manners and will need a strong human leader to discipline her from the get go. From her figure, it's obvious that Mandy recently has been a mother. She is quite petite and only weighs 40 pounds. Unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats or young children so we recommend that she go to a home with no cats and older children 10 yrs+.

Sheba> is a sweet petite white Am Bulldog/Amstaff Mix gal who seems to have lived a rough life...She was dumped at the City Shelter in Brooklyn, NY shelter as a stray and is estimated at 4 yrs old and is approx 45 lbs. She's very sweet and mellow but has a rough coat and calloused elbows.. someone wasn't feeding her very well and she may have been left in a cement lot for a period of time.. still she passed her behavior exam and although she is a bit wary of other dogs at first... once she warms up she is an absolute sweetheart... she's good with all people. Unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats and kids... but we imagine she would be fine with older kids 10 yrs+

LOOK AT THAT ADORABLE GROUCHO MARX EYEBROW that gives her the all inquisitive look!!! She just wants a couch to lay on and a person or family to give her the loving home she deserves!! This Handsome Little Tan/White Amstaff mix is in boarding at a Doggie Day Care Facilty and he can't stay there any longer...We have to find him a home/foster home asap! Do you have room in your home and heart to take him in?!

Sweet & Spunky COLBY is just a PUP right now...at 11 mos old, he's 45 lbs of energetic puppy.... but oh so very very sweet! He loves people and is a total smush at home and he is very obedient - He just needs a DAILY DOSE OF GOOD EXERCISE and discipline and needs A STRONG PACK LEADER...someone who is experienced with bully breeds and/or is willing to continue the discipline and training we are currently providing him.

Colby is currently undergoing basic obedience at a dog training facility and has proven himself to be an quick and very smart learner...he learned sit, stay and roll over in just 1 day!! he craves direction and will become a smushy loyal buddy if you just give him a consistent routine and stick with him!! We originally thought he'd be best if he were an only dog as he was vocal with other dogs in the streets of NYC, but now after sending him to doggy boot camp... he is just wonderful with all the dogs there and if he plays a little rough and the other dog doesn't like it... he stops and rolls on the ground...so we would like him to be with another young medium/large soft breed dog preferably a female that he can play with!

He may be a bit too playful for small dogs and no cats. We also think he would be best with older children i.e over 10 yrs old.

Jackie is so friendly with people and dogs that it's hard to imagine why anyone would abandon such a lovable dog. She is a 4-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix that received our behaviorists' highest rating for sociability and lack of aggression. Jackie is also playful when she has a chance to get in the open air with a friendly stranger. In the distant past, she had puppies but will no more. She'll devote her whole heart to her new family. Though she doesn't pull on a leash hard, she still needs obedience training so that you can enjoy your time together. Unlike
younger dogs, she is calm and patient when waiting, such as when she was getting her picture taken. She did arrive emaciated, weighing only 33 lb., but she's eating well and should gain normal size of about 40 lb. soon.
