Rocko is a 3 yo male tan amstaff/pit mix who is very petite in size and only weighs 45 lbs!!... He was surrendered by his owner because he couldn't afford him anymore.. but as per owner... Patrick is a one year old Lab/pit mix was brought to the shelter as a stray. He is absolutely gorgeous!! And he adores people! In fact, whenever he's around people his tail wags a thousand beats a minute, like a whirring fan. He's still a pup so he will need exercise, exercise & discipline and strong human pack leader!... but he will reward you by being your best friend forever! He likes other dogs, but hasn't quite learned doggy etiquette and can be pushy so he must be taught manners...but that will come with supervised play dates. Sophie

Name: Sophie
Sex: Female
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Rednose Pittie/Hound Mix
Weight: 50 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Today is this sweet girl's last day!! - She was pulled off the euth list and given 24 hours...but she is getting put down for no good reason other than lack of space. Can you find it in your heart to save her by adpoting/fostering/sponsoring today?

Sophie is a sweet beautiful 1.5 yr old, 50 lb female rednose amstaff/pit/hound mix who was brought in as a stray. She is quite the "looker" with her beautiful red coat and her sweet hound ears. She is still an energetic puppy and will need exercise & discipline and a firm human leader. She scored very well on her behavior test and was about to be adopted but as she was leaving the shelter with her new owners, she proceeded to "bark" at some of the dogs coming in and her new owners got nervous and brought her back... What? Dogs can't bark at other dogs? How do you expect them to communicate?? Look at how sad Sophie is to be back at the shelter...

Anyways... we think that Sophie would be best in a non-city environment in a house with a yard where she can bark to her hearts content and we think she would be fine with another "male" dog who she can run and play with. We also think she would be good with older children 10 yrs+. Unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats... but we do know that this girl deserves a second chance at a good home that will give her the time and training to be the best loyal companion she can be - won't you be that person/family to do so?

If you would like to save Sophie by committing to adopting/fostering her today... pls e-mail back to the craigslist e-mail (http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/pet/850485213.html) or call #917-543-6193 immediately and leave your full contact info - PLS HURRY AS TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!!

* Pls note this dog is located in the Metropolitan NYC AREA and transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met* Also, there will be a nominal adoption donation fee requested to cover shots, spay & microchip*

Sheba

Name: Sheba
Sex: Female
Age: 4 years
Breed: Pittie Mix
Weight: 40 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This girl was pulled off the Euth list and given another 24 hours!!! - Pls save her by adpoting/fostering!

Sheba is a sweet gal who seems to have lived a rough life...She was dumped at the shelter as a stray and is estimated at 4 yrs old. She's very sweet and mellow but has a rough coat and calloused elbows.. someone wasn't feeding her very well and she may have been left in a cement yard for a period of time, still she passed her behavior exam and is civil around other dogs - and look at that adorable groucho marx eyebrow that gives her the all inquisitive look!!!

She just wants a couch to lay on and a person or family to give her the loving home she deserves!!

If you can save Sheba by adopting/fostering, please e-mail luckofthedogblog@gmail.com or call #212-533-0822 immediately - time is of the essence! She will be put back on the euth list for Thursday morning! THANK YOU!

Emma

Name: Emma
Sex: Female
Age: 2 years
Breed: Pittie Mix
Weight: 30 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Angels!!

The foster flaked on Emma yesterday and now she is really critical...I met her the other day and she is absolutely darling and ooh sooo little and petite! And not as scared as we thought, but she has kennel cough now so the shelter is itching to put her down!!!

This little girl only has until tonight to find a safe place to live!!- Pls save her by committing to adpoting/fostering so we can pull her off the Euth List!!

Sweet Little Emma is a tan/white 2 yr Itty Bitty Pitty Mix at only 30 lbs!!! She is sweet and petite but very scared & timid at the shelter where she was dropped off as a stray. She is ok with other dogs but because she's a bit timid, it's best to introduce her slowly... she is very attentive and knows basic commands and is very loving and kissy but she will definitely need a firm and patient human but we don't think she should be put down because she's shy!

If you can provide Emma with the nurturing home she deserves, pls email luckofthedogblog@gmail.com or call #212-533-0822 and leave your full contact info including e-mail address!! - THANK YOU!

Josie

Name: Josie
Sex: Female
Age: 3 years - recent mommy!
Breed: Boxer/Pittie Mix
Weight: 64 lbs.
Spayed: Will Be!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Foster is going away on Thursday, 9/18 and we urgently need to find a new home/foster for this sweet girl!!

Josie is a 3-year old female, brown and white American Staffordshire Terrier mix that weighs approx 64 lbs. She was brought to the city shelter after being found tied to a gate with a heavy metal chain. She was a recent mother; she was still lactating. We call her a throwaway mom: used to produce puppies to be sold and then when her usefulness is done, abandoned to the streets. And she arrived at the shelter emaciated because the owner didn't even feed her properly.

Despite this terrible treatment, Josie is well socialized. She is low key, walks politely on a leash, appears to be housetrained, and good with dogs she's been around so far. She's a friendly girl and appreciates being petted and brushed. Josie takes food gently from your fingers. She loves to be taken her out for frequent walks, which brings the happiness back into her soul. She deserves it. A nice gal. She was rescued and placed in a foster home.. but now the foster has to go away unexpectedly and we urgently need to find a home or new foster for this sweet mama by Thursday, 9/18!

If you can adopt/foster Josie, please email luckofthedogblog@gmail.com with your phone number or call her rescue advocate at 917-543-6193 and leave a message with your info - THANK YOU!

Wiley

Name: Wiley
Sex: Male
Age: 10 months
Breed: Shepard/Pittie Mix
Weight: 40 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This sweet and lively smiling little Shepherd/Amstaff Terrier mix was rescued from the city shelter in Brooklyn on the verge of "crashing" from a severe lung infection... he rescued and brought to a vet's office and given strong anti-biotics for a week and under the careful eye of the vet regained strength and recovered to full health! Now his true colors are showing and they are that of a young energetic pup who loves to pull on the leash and run around... he's got a wonderful sweet side when he is settled and he's a sweet kissy snuggler. He is a typical puppy and is rambunctious but is dying for a pack leader - someone to give him the strong discipline and obedience training that he needs.

He is an avid listener and eager to learn so with the proper training he will be a wonderful companion dog. He is good with other dogs, seems to not care about the cats at the vets office and is great with people... but because of his wanting to grab the leash with his mouth... we recommend he go with children 12 & over only. He appears to be housetrained but may need some further reinforcement/training & he will be the perfect loyal companion!

Wiley is starting to get a little kennel crazy at the vet's office so we need to get him out ASAP!!! - If you are interested in meeting/adopting/foster him, pls e-mail luckofthedogblog@gmail.com ASAP or CALL 917-543-6193 and leave your full contact info - THANK YOU!

If you can't adopt/foster... pls consider sponsoring Wiley by going to this link: http://inourhandsrescue.chipin.com/help-iohr-save-a-last-chance-shelter-dog

Mojo

Name: Mojo
Sex: Male
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Mastiff Mix
Weight: 60 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

URGENT!!.. We need an adopter/foster immediately for this dog or he may have to go back to the pound!!

Mojo is an oh soo sweet mush of an 1.5yr old, 60 lb red brindle mastiff Mix that was saved from death's door from the city shelter just(2) weeks ago. We found him a wonderful foster home but the landlord now says he's too big and too vocal and has to go!! It's ok because we think Mojo needs a home in the country away from all the city slickers or a city slicker that doesn't have an uptight landlord and understands that dogs communicate by barking!!

In any event, Mojo is a total wuggie of a dog - he looks alot like the Turner & Hooch dog who was a mastiff and he has a very similar gentle giant temperament... he's wonderful with all people big and small and great with all dogs big and small. He likes to check out cats.. and chase them a bit but all in play mode. He's not one bit aggressive!! He is a bit underweight and was found to have tapeworms which he is currently being treated for. He will need some re-training on the housebreaking end as he is not completely housebroken but is getting better every day.

IF you can help Mojo by adopting/fostering him immediately...pls e-mail luckofthedogblog@gmail.com or call #917-543-6193 and leave a message with your name, callback# and your e-mail address!! ASAP!! - THANK YOU!!

*Please note that this dog is located in the Metropolitan New York City Area.. Transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met*

If you can't adopt/foster pls consider sponsoring Mojo so that we can board him... by going to this link: http://inourhandsrescue.chipin.com/help-iohr-save-a-last-chance-shelter-dog

Monaca

Name: Monaca
Sex: Female
Age: 8 months
Breed: Grehound & Pittie Mix
Weight: 43 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Beautiful Monaca is a big love puppy. She is a snuggler and a wiggler, who delights in giving big sloppy lively kisses! At only 8 months old and 35 lbs, this cute Greyhound and Staffie mix puppy was blessed with a striking brown brindle coat and heavenly leash manners. Monaca walks quite nicely on the lead-- no tugging at all, quite unusual for an active puppy! She is smart and eager to learn more-- an excellent candidate for training classes.

Monaca's behavior test was excellend, with only one blemish. We do not suggest her for homes with young children or other animals as in the shelter, she has exhibited food aggression. This dog is SUCH a wonderful companion, however, that we have decided to take a chance on posting her. Her adopter must be willing, able and experienced enough to work with her-- food aggression, in most cases, can be overcome with training, trust and time!

Will you give her that chance in your life? Food aggression often arises when a dog has been deprived of so much for so long-- can you help her regain her trust in the good things that humanity can provide, like the simplest of amenities: FOOD?

To give beautiful baby Monaca a chance at new life, email emily@emilygear.com today-- tomorrow may be too lage **TIME IS SHORT!!!**

Venus

VENUS HAS NO WHERE TO GO AS OF TONIGHT... MUST FIND HER A FOSTER/HOME ASAP!

Name: Venus
Sex: Female
Age: 1 year
Breed: Red nose pittie
Weight: 40 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This sweet girl needs a home/foster by Sun, 9/14 as the landlord won't allow the foster to keep her!! Pls help as we don't want to see this sweet, deaf girl back at the shelter she was saved from!!!

This sweet & beautiful & petite (only 40 lbs!!) white with blue eyes 1 yr old rednose female pit - Venus was brought into the shelter with multiple wounds and bite marks on her front legs & chest. With strong antibiotics, these wounds have since healed up but they are very indicative of a dog that may have been used as bait for use in training pitbulls to fight...but ironically despite these scars...this girl holds no grudges & is sweet as pie and has a very sweet temperament & is full of wags, wiggles & kisses for all humans.

Even though she's deaf, she does know sit, lay down & paw. Deaf Dogs are very attentive to your facial expressions, hand signals and vibrations and are easily trainable. She appears to be ok with some dogs mostly small dogs but not big dogs...she should go into a home with no other dogs because we don't know how she will react to other dogs or she can go to a home with other dogs as long as the adopter/foster has pit or bully breed experience. Also, she should go to ahome with older kids i.e 10 yrs + and she seems to be ok with cats

IF you can help Venus by adopting/fostering/sponsoring... please e-mail luckofthedogblog@gmail.com or call #917-543-6193.

*Pls note this dog is located in the NYC area - transport can be arranged depending on location* Also, there will be a reasonable adoption/donation fee requested to cover shots/spay surgery/microchip

If you would like to sponsor her in the event we have to board her - you can do so by going to this link http://inourhandsrescue.chipin.com/help-iohr-save-a-last-chance-shelter-dog

Name: Wuggie
Sex: Male
Age: ~10 months
Breed: Boxer, Pittie Mix
Weight: 43 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

VERY URGENT Times are hard ... This sweet and shy boy is getting booted by the landlord of his current foster home and we urgently need to find a permanent or foster home by this Sunday, 9/14 or he will be taken back to the kill shelter!!

Wuggie is a 10 month old puppy who was brought to the city pound as a stray. Wuggie is very timid with humans at first, but once he understands you mean him no harm, he warms up and wants to play! Wuggie is never rough or scattered or hyper.

Wuggie is a well behaved dog who does very well on leash, is fine with other dogs and appears to be housetrained. He is quite friendly and likes to sit by your side. He knows the command "sit," the basic building block of all commands. He's a nice, gorgeous and handsome pup and is a complete "Wuggie."

Currently, he weighs 43 pounds and will probably fill out some more to approx 55-60 lbs. of complete Wuggie-mushiness!!

PLS give him the loving, forever home he deserves! f you would like to meet/adopt Wuggie this weekend, please email luckofthedogblog@gmail.com with your full contact information and/or call 917.543.6193 and leave your call back info.

Nettie

Name: Nettie
Sex: Female
Age: 3 years
Breed: Black Domestic Shorthair
Weight: 10 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Nettie's story is truly heartbreaking. Her owner was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and decided, unselfishly, to give Nettie up for adoption to ensure that she was well cared for after her passing.

Nettie, a spayed, 3 year old, all-black cat, had been with her owner since she was a teeny, tiny kitten. She's very talkative and extremely healthy - she has her international health certificate to prove it. Nettie's interests include eating, drinking out of the faucet, kneeding on your lap, purring and meowing. She's settled in quite well at her foster home - which is great since she's currently living with 2 other cats and a 8 month old puppy!

She would love to find her forever home to finally start settling in permanently. As per former owner, she would prefer to be an indoor only cat.

She is up to date on all her vaccinations, spayed and will be microchipped before being adopted. If you are interested in adopting Nettie please contact luckofthedog@gmail.com.

Castro

Name: Castro
Sex: Female
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Brindle Pit
Weight: 39 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Time is up at the city shelter for our sweet, perfect and petite 1.5 year old female brindle pittie Castro. This girl's last night is 9/11 due to lack of space at the shelter. If you can commit to adopting or fostering her, you can help save this little angel's life!

Castro is an amazingly gentle 1.5 year old petite (only 39 lbs - perfect NYC apt sized!) female brindle pittie mix. She hopped a ride in a police car to the Shelter and was admitted as a stray... She's softhearted, a bit shym but awfully friendly and low key. This superstar walks nicely on a leash and minds her own business around other dogs. She also appears to be housetrained.

She has been working with one of the shelter trainers and she is a Grade A student! Because she's so gentle, we think this girl will make a outstanding family dog and a loving, loyal companion!

If you can help by adopting/fostering/sponsoring our sweet little girl, please email: luckofthedogblog@gmail.com and leave a message with your contact information.

*Pls note this dog is located in the Metropolitan NYC Area.. transport can be arranged provided certain criteria are met*
