Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This sweet sweet boy only has a few days left until his TIME IS UP!... Pls SAVE HIM by committing to ADOPTING him today!

Sarge, a 1-1/2 year old pup, was found as a stray. Whenever he's out of his kennel, he makes the most of the time to charm every human who passes by. He's a toll-taker: collecting kisses and caresses. He's a low key dog, a bit shy but oh, so loving, friendly and calm. He walks nicely on a leash and is housetrained. When meeting with other dogs, he was calm and friendly. He knows "sit" and "stay." A truly nice, family dog. He weighs 44 pounds.

If you can COMMIT to ADOPTING/FOSTERING SARGE... please E-MAIL back to this post ASAP or call #917-543-6193. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY - Thank you!

Tapai

Name: Tapai
Sex: Male
Age: 1 year
Breed: Pittie/Weimaraner? Mix
Weight: 47 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

We need an IMMEDIATE foster or adopter to save TAPAI from euthanasia tomorrow morning (Sunday). If you can commit to foster or adopt him by 8 AM, please call 212-533-0822 before 8 AM Sunday so we can pull him from Sunday morning's euthanasia list before it's too late.

Tapai is a 1-year old male brown and white American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He also looks like he might be mixed with Weimaraner. Since he arrived as a stray on 10/4/08, Tapai has generated a lot of buzz at the shelter. He's quickly became a volunteer favorite: friendly and affection. He's dog friendly, too. He's playful but never hyper, walks nicely on a leash, and certainly appears to be housetrained.

This one year boy has a luscious milk chocolate brown coat and weighs 47 pounds. Tapai is truly a lovely dog, very sweet and gentle, so attuned to his caretaker. He is very good with other dogs, not hyper or scattered. Adopt him today. He will win your heart over when you meet him. He's too good to lose.

Please respond to this posting or call 212-533-0822 before 8 AM Sunday to save him. When leaving a message, please also provide your email address so we can email you an application right away for consideration. We can't waste anytime in finding an appropriate home for him because he is scheduled for euthanasia tomorrow morning (Sunday)!

Jeremy - HURRY!

Name: Jeremy
Sex: Male
Age: 4 years
Breed: Pittie Mix
Weight: 50 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

This handsome and sweet boy is going down tomorrow AM for no good reason other than no space!! Pls SAVE HIM by COMMITTING to ADOPTING/FOSTERING HIM!

On 9/26/08, a neighbor asked the Shelter to pick up JEREMY, a 4 yr old neutered 50 lb male shep/pit mix as she said his owner had abandoned him. The shelter tried to find his owner but to no avail... So, poor Jeremy has been up in the "hold" ward and now because there is NO SPACE.. he is on the EUTH LIST for tomorrow.. poor guy didn't even get a chance to be seen by anyone for adoption!!!.. how UNFAIR IS THAT?!!!

The shelter volunteers all love him and they all give a "thumbs up" for Jeremy. He's very well behaved, and doesn't appear to have any problem with other dogs. He's also very handsome and we guess he has some shepherd in him. He appears to be housetrained, walks politely on a leash, and is very friendly with all people and since he's an adult 4 yrs of age, he's past the puppy frenetics, but look at how concerned and sad he is at being abandoned and left at the shelter... clearly he is very stressed.... Pls SAVE HIM by taking him home with you today!

If you can COMMIT to ADOPTING/FOSTERING JEREMY, we will pull him off the EUTH LIST but SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY... PLS RESPOND back to this post or call #917-543-6193 ASAP and leave your call back#s - *ONLY THOSE THAT LEAVE CALLBACK#s will be contacted*

*This dog is located in the NYC Metropolitan Area - transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met*

Angel - UPDATE!

Name: Angel
Sex: Female
Age: 4 years
Breed: American Bulldog
Weight: 48 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

From her foster mom: Angel has got to be the reason so many put their blood, sweat and tears into rescue. She is just the sweetest, sweetest, smelliest (in a good way) pup I've ever met. Her big, chunky head is just perfect for kisses and her demeanor is simply extraordinary.

When I first met her, she was quite pink from her skin condition, obviously a little itchy. Still, whereas other pups may have been consumed in their discomfort, her tail didn't just wag, it literally circled as she walked out of the shelter she was so excited to meet everyone. I watched staff members and volunteers at the CACC stop the vet tech she was with, crouch down and give her hugs and kisses as she left - e-collar and all! With so many animals going through the shelter, I knew I had to have a special girl because so many people were sad (but happy) to see her go.

I brought Angel home with me and introduced her to my 10 month old, female pittie Gertrude by taking them on a walk together to solidify the pack mentality. Barely a hackle was raised and soon they were frolicking all over my apartment playing and wagging their tales. After a little more than a week, they've become great friends, doing sits and sleeps together.

I can confirm that Angel is perfectly housetrained - the moment she gets outside she knows the drill! She loves to chew on her toys when in her crate before she goes to sleep at night, but is never destructive toward anything in the house. Besides being good with dogs, she also does well with my 3 cats. While she shows interest in them, it's nothing a little warning from the feline (or the human) doesn't dissuade.

She loves to go for walks and we're working on leash manners (she pulls when she gets a scent!), but as you can see from the couch picture - a walk in Central Park was all it took to send her to bed early!

In any event, I cannot rave more about this dog. She deserves the best forever home - one where she can snuggle up with her family and be pampered like she's supposed to be! In the interim, I'm doing my best to spoil her! :)

Original post: Someone brought Angel to the Shelter explaining he found her as a stray. From the pink color of her skin, we know she's uncomfortable. She has a non-contagious skin condition that makes her itch and itch. (Dogs who have predominantly white coats often are subject to skin conditions). But that doesn't dampen her sweetness and good nature. This four year old gal can sit on command and is quite friendly. She's fine around other dogs, and appears to be housetrained and we think she would be fine with kids 10 yrs+. With medication and good diet, Angel should look beautiful again. But her soul is beautiful - she got a "NO CONCERN" on her behavior test and that's what counts the most. She weighs 48 pounds.

If you can COMMIT to ADOPTING/FOSTERING ANGEL, we will pull her off the EUTH LIST but SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY... PLS RESPOND back to this post or call #917-543-6193 ASAP and leave your call back#s - *ONLY THOSE THAT LEAVE CALLBACK#s will be contacted*

Urgent Foster Needed for Needy Shelter Dog

Sex: Female
Age: 4 years
Breed: Pittie Mix
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

A beautiful 4 year old dog was thrown out of her home on 10/3/08. She was brought into a high kill shelter on the same date. Since she has been at the shetler she has become a favorite of staff members and volunteers. One of the shetler volunteers actually got this dog up on her hind legs and danced her around the shetler. Not once in her time at the shelter has she shown any aggression. That said, even with all of her wonderful attributes she is going to be put down for space if we do not get a foster or adopter to take her as soon as possible. Please respond to this post if you can help. Do to the special need in working as fast as possible we will need to use the guidelines of the shelter and no one under 21 will be able to work with this dog.

Weight: 45 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!

Roxanne is a 1 1/2 year old female pit mix white with fawn spots who is medium sized at 45 lbs (she looks large from the photos but she is quite petite!) Baron

Name: Baron
Sex: Male
Age: 2 years
Breed: Pittie Mix
Weight: 60 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Baron is a gorgeous, 2 yr old, neutered, 60 lb male Pit Mix who is the unfortunate victim of a landlord issue. His current owner can't afford to live anywhere else and the landlord wants Baron out. Baron was rescued from the NYC kill shelter and his owner does not want to bring him back to the shelter by any means, but he must get him a new home by OCT 15!!!

Baron is a sweet loving boy, but he is very shy and a "scaredy" dog and gets nervous around strangers - people and dogs. He bonds very quickly once he gets to know you but sometimes he gets "overprotective" and reactive with other dogs on the street. His owner was working with him to give Baron the confidence he needs to be a well balanced, socialized dog so Baron will need someone who has had experience with bully breeds or someone who is willing to continue with a training program to make Baron a confident, self-assured, well socialized and balanced dog. He appears to get along with "female" dogs and dogs that are smaller than him; however he would be best as an "only dog" at first or with a female dog... unfortunately he hasn't been tested with cats and we don't feel he should be with small children... only older kids 12+ yrs.

He is completely housebroken and is very obedient - He knows all the basic commands is very eager & quick to learn... he just needs help building his confidence... but is so eager to please so if your looking for that loyal best friend forever then Baron is the boy for you!

Please e-mail back to this post or call #917-543-6193 if you are interested in meeting Baron ASAP!!!

*This dog is located in the metropolitan NYC area ... transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met* If you can't adopt/foster but would like to help out Baron & dogs in need by making a donation to In Our Hands Rescue - you can do so by going to this link http://inourhandsrescue.chipin.com/help-iohr-save-a-last-chance-shelter-dog

Jack

Name: Jack
Sex: Male
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Pittie Mix
Weight: 45 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Jack was on the euthanasia list at the city shelter, and we thought we could not let go this amazing boy, but now we need a good home for him if we are to save him: could you be Jack's Match?

Jack is a young, Gorgeous light beige brindle, only 1.5 yrs of age; he's unique and his coat is amazing in color and feel: like velvet.. a lively and very well behaved boy, Jack is great on the leash, he's playful but calm too, very very smart and a very quick learner: this boy will amaze you in many ways; Jack loves toys an sometimes that can be his only quirk: he might not want to release a toy, much like a lot of dogs don't like people to mess with their food; but he's already learning that it's ok to release a toy, and he's quick to bond and fall in love with his human and follow theier lead: a good caretaker who is experienced with dogs will find it a breeze to continue teach Jack.

Jack gets along with most dogs--loves girls and most males unless they are very alpha; but in general Jack minds his own business and loves playing with the dogs that fit in with him nicely. Because he's somewhat dominant himself, we would not place him with another dominant dog just to be sure.

All in all, Jack he's quite a.. "Jack", we cannot think of any other name for him: way cool, smart, "in the know", just a Great Dog!

to meet Jack please respond to this post ASAP and we'll send you an application immediately, or call us at 646 642 2227 to save his precious life.

Charcoal - ADOPTED!!

Name: Charcoal
Sex: Male
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Bulldog/Pittie Mix
Weight: 55 lbs.
Neutered: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Please save this sweet, adorable, yummy chocolate bulldog/pit mix who was abandoned by his uncaring owners. This time we want him to have the permanent loving home he deserves!! Please save him by committing to adopting or fostering today!

This morning a technician at the city kill shelter pulled a sweet, sweet and unique AmStaff boy off the euthanasia list, Charcoal, who now has 24hrs to finds a home or he'll be back on it. If you have a foster or forever home for Charcoal, call us immediately to save his lovely life!

Poor Charcoal does not seem to have been treated well by people and life so far. He is so unhappy to be locked up in a cage and yearns to come out; Charcoal is not the type of boy you would miss and forget at the shelter. He has BIG button-like eyes that make him look surprised and scared. Not to mention he is as cute as a button, too. Sometimes he gets very shy and scared and walks his body to the ground: we think he had been scared to death by previous harsh owners that originally
adopted him from here some time ago, only to dump him back.

He is a very good boy who deserves a second chance. And he is already neutered,
ready to go home with with perfect match, if you only can come meet him soon,
as his time will be up again tomorrow, Friday, OCT 3!!! Please contact this posting ASAP so we can send you an application or call 646 642 2227 ASAP to save sweet Charcoal. Thank You for caring about a life in need!!!

Kane is a 1.5 yr old, 55 lb neutered, gorgeous male rednose amstaff/pit mix who was saved from death row at the NYC Shelter. He is a wonderful dog. He loves to play, be outside, cuddle, and just have his head on your lap while sitting on the couch watching tv. He loves belly rubs, food and treats. He is good with small dogs and also with bigger dogs but needs to be introduced properly. He gets along with kids but because he doesn't realize his strength, he should probably go with older kids 10 yrs+. He knows basic commands but will still need training to keep him disciplined. Sophie

Name: Sophie
Sex: Female
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Rednose Pittie/Hound Mix
Weight: 50 lbs.
Spayed: Yes!
Available for Fostering: Yes!
Available for Adoption: Yes!

Today is this sweet girl's last day!! - She was pulled off the euth list and given 24 hours...but she is getting put down for no good reason other than lack of space. Can you find it in your heart to save her by adpoting/fostering/sponsoring today?

Sophie is a sweet beautiful 1.5 yr old, 50 lb female rednose amstaff/pit/hound mix who was brought in as a stray. She is quite the "looker" with her beautiful red coat and her sweet hound ears. She is still an energetic puppy and will need exercise & discipline and a firm human leader. She scored very well on her behavior test and was about to be adopted but as she was leaving the shelter with her new owners, she proceeded to "bark" at some of the dogs coming in and her new owners got nervous and brought her back... What? Dogs can't bark at other dogs? How do you expect them to communicate?? Look at how sad Sophie is to be back at the shelter...

Anyways... we think that Sophie would be best in a non-city environment in a house with a yard where she can bark to her hearts content and we think she would be fine with another "male" dog who she can run and play with. We also think she would be good with older children 10 yrs+. Unfortunately we don't know how she is with cats... but we do know that this girl deserves a second chance at a good home that will give her the time and training to be the best loyal companion she can be - won't you be that person/family to do so?

If you would like to save Sophie by committing to adopting/fostering her today... pls e-mail back to the craigslist e-mail (http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/pet/850485213.html) or call #917-543-6193 immediately and leave your full contact info - PLS HURRY AS TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!!

* Pls note this dog is located in the Metropolitan NYC AREA and transport can be arranged provided certain criteria is met* Also, there will be a nominal adoption donation fee requested to cover shots, spay & microchip*
