Adoring, loving, 50 lb hound x needs adopter before foster dumps him!

I am constantly amazed at the resiliency of some special animals.

Josiah is a 1-1/2 year old hound mix-- mixed with what, I'm not sure-- Boxer maybe? He weighs about 50 lbs and is very energetic, as a young man should be! He is gentle, great with other dogs, all kinds of people and reportedly with cats. He has eyes that are open to his soul-- happy, joyful chestnut colored jewels that dance adoringly every time he looks at you. He is a gorgeous shade of red with black and white highlights, and he is such an incredibly proportioned animal-- and amazing creature.

From his happy and sometimes mischievous ways, you'd never know the past that he has only recently left behind. If you look closely, his back is covered in scars from puncture wounds, his ear has healed where a tear once was and vets think his leg may have once been broken and a bullet lodged in his rear end.

Does this bother Josiah one bit? ABSOLUTELY NOT. His gait is normal, even exuberant, for starters. He has the right and the clear privilege to LOVE life--- now that he's been afforded the chance to live it. Josiah needs a stable home, however, and has been in transition for quite some time. This boy, whose huge bear hugs are legendary, wants nothing more than a big bowl of food, a bed to lay (with you) on, and a firm but loving hand to scratch his chin...

We do not recommend homes with young children because Josiah is very active and needs more training, but a more loving and bright soul you will not find. He has done well with other dogs when introduced properly, but if caught by surprise, he can become overstimulated--HE NEEDS AN EXPERIENCED OWNER TO SOCIALIZE HIM. For the person who adopts him--we want this to be his furever home--FOREVER.

To meet him please email emily@emilygear.com. He must be placed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!THIS IS A TRULY SPECIAL BOY.
